Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do you tincture the whole formula together or is each herb tinctured separately?
We tincture, or macerate, herbs individually because different parts of plants require different amounts of alcohol. This allows for us to use the percentage of alcohol that works best to extract the useful constituents from each part of the plant.
2. Where do you source your herbs?
We source our herbs from trusted, established US-based companies who offer herbs that are premium, organic, or wild crafted. Their products also come with Certificates of Analysis which show that they have been tested for pesticides and heavy metals.
3. Are your herbs tested for pesticides and heavy metals?
Yes, our herbs are tested for pesticides and heavy metals. In addition, it is important to us to have our products third-party tested for safety.
4. Why do you use tinctures instead of the traditional teas or pills?
We choose tinctures because they offer a blend of convenience, effectiveness, and ease of use. Here’s why we love them:
Convenient and mess-free – No need to spend time simmering herbs or filling your home with strong herbal aromas. Just a few drops, and you’re good to go.
Fast absorption – Tinctures are absorbed quickly through the mucus membranes, meaning they start working faster than pills, which must be broken down and digested first.
No more pill fatigue – Taking multiple supplements daily can be exhausting. Tinctures offer a simple, gentle alternative that’s easy on both the body and the routine.
Tinctures allow us to deliver high-quality herbal support in a way that fits into modern life—efficient, effective, and easy.
5. How do I know how much to take?
The dosage will vary per individual based on their weight and what they are taking the formula for. With that in mind, standard adult dosage is two droppers-full two to three times a day. This is equivalent to ½ tsp or 2 mL per dose. We recommend starting with two droppers-full two times a day for the first few days to gauge your body’s response to the herbs.
6. What type of alcohol do you use in your extractions?
In our ongoing commitment to support organic practices whenever possible, we’ve recently transitioned from using grain alcohol to organic cane alcohol in our tinctures. While it will take some time to use up the remaining extracts made with grain alcohol, our formulas will gradually shift to using only organic cane alcohol. We're excited about this step toward higher quality herbal medicine.
7. What’s the concentration of your formulas?
Starting in 2024, we began preparing our tinctures at a 1:4 concentration—that means 1 part herb to 4 parts liquid, resulting in a stronger extract. Previously, our tinctures were made at a 1:5 concentration (1 part herb to 5 parts liquid).
As we transition fully to the new 1:4 standard, we're still using some existing extracts made at 1:5. To maintain transparency, we continue to label these products as 1:5 until all tinctures are made at the 1:4 concentration.
8. Why is J’s Juice more expensive?
Our formulas are priced based on the cost of the ingredients. Some of the formulas, like J’s Juice, contain more expensive ingredients and so it’s necessary to charge more for those items.
